Slowing down an entire game is different from simply making its enemies less aggressive. Saros: Zenith introduces Slow Game Speed, a configurable option that adjusts the pace of the player, enemies and incoming projectiles together.
Housemarque's stated goal is to retain existing attack patterns while extending the reaction time available to the player. The setting can be controlled manually or activated automatically during combat.
This is a gameplay-speed adjustment, not a documented graphics-performance mode. The patch notes do not supply framerate measurements or evidence of rendering improvements associated with the feature.
DualSense motion sensors enter the aiming system
Motion Sensor Aiming allows players to use the DualSense controller's motion sensors to aim and adjust camera direction. It provides an alternative to relying exclusively on analog sticks for aiming corrections.
The practical quality of gyro aiming depends on implementation details including sensitivity, filtering and stability. Those properties would need to be evaluated in use; the official announcement confirms the feature but does not publish response-time measurements.
Weapon Auto-fire offers another form of control customization. Both the main weapon and the power weapon can be configured to fire automatically when aiming at hostile targets.
Perfect reloads remain manual, preserving a timing-dependent interaction while removing the requirement to hold a trigger throughout sustained combat.
Improving readability in particle-heavy environments
High Contrast Display adds vivid solid-color highlighting and colored outlines for characters and enemies. This is particularly relevant to Saros, where bright projectile patterns and environmental effects can compete with targets for visual attention.
The feature changes visual differentiation rather than the underlying combat rules. Its effectiveness will depend on the selected colors and the consistency of target highlighting in difficult scenes.
Housemarque has not provided a quantitative visibility study or performance comparison for the new display settings. Their documented purpose is to help players identify important gameplay elements more easily.
Eclipse Layers expands the rules, not just the numbers
The new Eclipse Layers mode becomes accessible after completing the game. Players revisit the experience with increasingly demanding combinations of Carcosan Modifiers.
Zenith introduces twenty modifiers, divided equally between Protections and Trials. These can alter combat damage, corruption behavior and the methods required to finish enemies.
Modifier Mastery provides progression through defeating hostile enemies with specific modifiers active. Additional balance adjustments change artifact tiers, drop conditions and several modifier values.
These are documented gameplay-system updates. The published patch notes do not establish corresponding CPU, GPU or memory optimizations, so any claim about improved technical performance would require separate testing.
Online leaderboards and the eight-boss gauntlet
Overlord Rush is a timed boss challenge featuring the powerful Overlords encountered during the main campaign. Two sets contain three enemies each, while Totality combines all eight in a continuous sequence.
Players can compare results on integrated online leaderboards, including rankings filtered by primary weapon. The filtering makes weapon-specific performance comparisons possible rather than relying solely on one global list.
An Internet connection and a PlayStation account are required for the online leaderboard features. The announcement does not describe a new synchronous multiplayer combat mode.
Existing PS5 Pro features remain separate
Saros already supports PlayStation hardware features including DualSense haptics, adaptive triggers and 3D audio. PlayStation also identifies PSSR upscaling support for the PS5 Pro version.
These capabilities should not be mistaken for features newly introduced by Zenith. The patch notes describe accessibility, control, progression and balance changes without providing updated resolution specifications or measured framerate comparisons between PS5 and PS5 Pro.
Photo Mode receives additional options, including control over Arjun's facial expression and the visibility of power-weapon elements.
One installation detail is worth noting before updating: patch 02.000.000 automatically ends the current Cycle and returns the player to Passage. The update has been available free of charge to Saros owners since October 19, 2026.
